Recovery of churches in Positano, Massimo Predieri: “About 13 thousand euros raised”
Until a week ago, about 8 thousand euros had been collected for the restoration of the Churches of San Giovanni and San Matteo in Positano. An initiative in which they have been involved Massimo Predieri, the parish priest Don Danilo Mansi and many other citizens. We had the opportunity to interview Predieri, who revealed that the figure of 8 thousand euros reached last week it has almost doubled. In short, Positano calls and its citizens actively respond to recover their history. It went well – Predieri told us, we had about thirty paintings made available by various people, Domenico Marrone, Mario Attanasio, Enzo Esposito, myself, also Nazario Fusco. Paintings that we sold to raise funds for the restoration of the two churches of San Giovanni and San Matteo. You talked about it on Positanonews – adds -, 10 years ago in October 2012 we organized a kind of one week workshop with an artist from Thurnau, a town twinned with Positano. They have arrived 18 artists from Germany, Austria, Czechoslovakia. Some of these paintings remained and we sold them: we collected perhaps 12-13 thousand euros which we will give to the Curia and the parish of Positano to feed the funds for the restoration. Of course they are not enough. Tomorrow we will have a meeting to understand how to use these funds together with the parish priest Don Danilo. We also invite other people to find initiatives to raise these funds. We hope to soon have these churches back well preserved and ready to welcome the faithful. There is a good link between Positano, its tradition and the art of many foreigners who came to Positano to paint – he concluded.
