“She comes from the sea …” the moving poem by Angela Mammato to the Madonna Assunta in Positano

August 15th is a very popular date for the inhabitants of Positano – as well as for the pagan festival of Mid-August – especially for the strong Catholic faith that binds them to Our Lady of the Assumption. On this occasion the city celebrates its patron saint with processions that recreate the icon’s arrival in the cityspecial events in the church, celebrations for Ferragosto on the beach and fireworks that light up the night positanese. A party in which everyone feels involved in events in the country to celebrate the Madonna who has always protected the vertical city. The Assumption recalls the dies natalis of Mary, that is the day that marks the moment of the end of his earthly life and the beginning of the transcendent one, of the endless, next to the Son. Everyone collaborates to make the celebrations of their Mother unique, and here too Angela Mammato dedicate one moving poem to the Madonna: She comes from the sea
Walk barefoot
in the waves
Foam in the sand
Overwhelms all hearts
So long as
She is the salt of the way
The Queen of the world!
The beauty comes
from the sea!
