What does it mean that He brought me out of the miry clay?

He was always there for me when I needed him and I am so grateful for everything he has done for me. I don’t know where I would be without him.
I was born in the slums of New York City. My parents were addicts and I never knew my father. My mother died when I was five. I was left to fend for myself. I did whatever I had to do to survive. I was arrested multiple times for petty crimes. I was in and out of juvenile detention. I was a lost cause.
But then I met him. He was a community outreach worker. He saw something in me that I didn’t see in myself. He took me out of the muck and gave me a new life. He got me into a group home and helped me get my GED. He was always there for me when I needed him and I am so grateful for everything he has done for me. I don’t know where I would be without him.
